About Internetspeedtest.me
Why we built this
internetspeedtest.me is a free, browser-based internet speed test that measures download speed, upload speed, latency and jitter. It's designed to be accurate without wasting bandwidth: the test adapts the amount of data it transfers to your connection speed, so slow links finish quickly and fast links get enough data for a stable reading.
How we're funded
The test is free, and always will be. We fund the service with affiliate commissions when visitors check availability or buy internet plans through links on the site. These partnerships don't change how the test works or which providers we show.
Where results come from
Measurements are taken in your browser against Cloudflare's edge network and reported as medians of several samples. Aggregate statistics shown on location pages come only from anonymous, aggregated measurements with a minimum sample size — individual results are never published.
What makes this test different
Most speed tests push a fixed, large download on every visitor regardless of connection speed. This one adapts its transfer size to your connection, which means it is quicker and gentler on slow links and on mobile data plans, while still converging to an accurate number on gigabit fiber.
Speed test limitations
A single measurement is a snapshot. Network traffic, time of day and local congestion all shift results, which is why comparing a few runs across different days is more meaningful than any one number.
This test measures throughput to Cloudflare's edge, not to every service you use. Remote work, gaming or streaming servers may route differently and show different performance.
