Privacy Policy
What we measure
When you run a speed test, your browser measures the data transfer rate between your device and our test servers. What we store is a small summary: download/upload Mbps, latency, jitter, test duration, bytes transferred, and coarse location (country, region, city).
What we do NOT store
We never store your full IP address — we store only a hashed (HMAC) version used for rate limiting and abuse detection. We never store speed-test payloads. The test data you download or upload is discarded immediately and never persisted.
ISP and location detection
Your ISP name, ASN and approximate location come from Cloudflare's request metadata (the AS organization and country/region/city Cloudflare sees for your connection). We show the ISP name on your result screen and store coarse location with your anonymous result. We do not geolocate you precisely.
Aggregated statistics
Location pages publish only aggregate statistics (e.g. median download speed by city) and only when at least 20 measurements exist, so no individual can be identified from a small sample.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization enabled to understand aggregate traffic. See Google's privacy policy for how Google processes that data.
Rate limiting and abuse prevention
To keep the service free and reliable, we track short-lived request counts keyed to a hash of your IP address. These counters expire automatically and are never correlated with your stored test results.
Speed test limitations
This test measures throughput to Cloudflare's edge, not to every service you use. Remote work, gaming or streaming servers may route differently and show different performance.
A speed test measures your connection to our test server, which typically lives on the same backbone your ISP peers with. Speeds to other destinations can vary with routing, server load, and the websites you use.
