Xbox Speed Test
Press start below to measure your connection right now. The test sizes itself to your speed, so it finishes quickly on slow links while still converging accurately on fast ones.
How this speed test works
Each pass of the measurement reads the payload directly from Cloudflare's edge and times how long the transfer actually takes, so the growing ladder reflects your real throughput rather than a guess.
The ladder starts small enough that even a 5 Mbps connection finishes quickly, then doubles the payload up to 100 MB so multi-gigabit fiber still gets a long enough transfer to converge.
A connection that measures 50 Mbps needs far less data to confirm that number than a 900 Mbps fiber line needs, and this test sizes the transfer accordingly.
Understanding download vs upload
For everyday browsing even modest download numbers feel fine; the number only starts to matter for large file transfers, streaming quality and multi-device households.
Ping is the round-trip delay to the test server in milliseconds; lower is better for real-time apps. Jitter is how much that delay wobbles, which often matters more than raw ping for calls and streaming.
Factors that influence results
Signal strength, router placement, device capability and background traffic all influence Wi-Fi results, which is why the same plan can report different speeds in different rooms.
Results reflect the connection between your device and the nearest Cloudflare edge, a good proxy for overall internet performance.
Getting the most from the test
Your data stays in your browser for the duration of the test; only a small, anonymous summary is saved afterward, and never the raw payload.
This test is free, requires no account, and never shows ads while it runs — the only goal of the measurement is to give you a trustworthy number as quickly as possible.
The result screen labels the server you measured against, so you always know exactly what path a number represents before you compare it with anything else.
Getting the most from the test
Xbox Speed Test is built to run on your connection in under a minute — press start, read the four numbers, and compare them with what your plan promises.
Speed test limitations
Latency shown here is the round-trip time to the test server, not the latency you would get to every gaming server or streaming CDN. Use it as a general baseline, not a guarantee.
Wi-Fi adds its own variability. If your wired connection is much faster than your Wi-Fi, the bottleneck is your wireless link, not your ISP — and that is worth knowing before you call your provider.
